Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant / Accounts Officer

Role Description This full-time remote role as Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant / Accounts Officer supports the organization’s financial operations and reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include processing and recording financial transactions, managing petty cash, preparing invoices and payment requests, and assisting with budget tracking and expense monitoring. The role also involves maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting credit control activities, reconciling accounts, and assisting with basic financial analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will collaborate with program and administrative teams, communicate clearly about financial procedures, and help ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant financial standards. Qualifications • Candidates should possess strong accounting and finance skills, including experience with basic bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. • Candidates should possess skills in credit control and petty cash management, including monitoring receivables, following up on outstanding balances, and handling cash transactions responsibly. • Candidates should possess effective communication skills to explain financial information clearly, collaborate with diverse teams, and respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders. • Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. • Relevant qualifications such as a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, are beneficial. • Demonstrated integrity, commitment to gender equity and inclusive sanitation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines will be advantageous.
